Forty Years of Music

Modern Music System atop Past Music System

The tape deck on the bottom weighs about 50 pounds. The 7 1/2 inch reels will hold approximately 3 hrs of music. To get the full sound requires an additional amplifier and a set of 2 foot high speakers, each weighing about 25 pounds. Once set up, you don’t move this system frequently. State of the art in its time (1967).

The iPod and speaker system on the top of the tape deck together weigh less than 5 pounds. The iPod currently contains over 20 days of music (about half its capacity). And the sound quality approaches that of the much larger system. The iPod will move to another stereo system or my car with ease.

How things change.
